Don’t miss this experiential evening with the arts! This fall global social will dive into music history, showcase vibrant performances, offer opportunities to connect with local community members, as well as celebrate the vibrant intersections of art, movement, and culture.
Blue Cross Blue Shield
It was an honor for the Nayika Adult Learner class to be invited to perform at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina! A privilege for newer students of the class a year into their learning to dance on the special occasion of Ashtami, the 8th day of the Navratri Festival, a day that honors the goddess Saraswati as the symbol of learning.
Incredibly proud of the Adult Learner class at Leela School of Dance for providing a safe space for these women to learn and perform as a group!
Vijayadasami 2024
Join us at Leela School of Dance for our Vijayadasami celebrations, a special event where new students are initiated into the world of Bharatanatyam through the traditional Vidyarambham ceremony. This auspicious day, marking new beginnings and the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, is the perfect opportunity for aspiring dancers to take their first steps into the art form. Don’t miss this chance to be a part of our vibrant community and start your journey in classical dance!
Technique Enhancement Program
Technique Enhancement Program
Sat, Jan 20, 2024 9:00 AM Sat, Jun 29, 2024 12:00 PM
Beginning again on January 20, 2024, Leela Foundation will launch a new cycle of the Technique Enhancement Program to the Bharata Natyam community.
Offered in partnership with Sankhya Dance Company, the program will provide specialized skills training for students and dancers who want to advance their learning in Bharata Natyam. This is an ongoing program offered in segments of six- months.
Like the spoken word, dance is a language with a rigorous grammar. Just as the usage of words and phrases are important to communicate, just as diction or the art of speaking and pronouncing these words and phrases, clearly and with the right tone are essential to communicate the message with clarity, so too, it is important for the movements in dance to be articulated and communicated with clarity and grace.
For that, the body, which is the dancer's tool of communication, must be trained with intention, to non-verbally communicate the sheer beauty and joy of the movements and to express the multitude of emotions with lucidity and conviction.
Led by renowned dancer and choreographer, Vaibhav Arekar, the program will focus on the Bharata Natyam technique for students of all levels, all ages, from all across the world, as it will be offered virtually.
